Amy Schumer’s first appearance on SNL on Saturday featured the critically acclaimed comedienne at her best.

According to the Daily Beast , Schumer, known for her anti-gun activism, was seen in a mock ad (a lá Zales jewelry commercial), poking fun at gun enthusiasts.

In the mock ad, titled Guns: We’re Here to Stay , Americans are featured experiencing pivotal moments in their lives, from receiving gifts for childbirth to first love, with a narrator explaining the following.

“Whatever you’re waiting for, whatever you face, whatever you’re looking for, there are things we all share: love, family, connection, a sense of purpose, and also … guns.”

In the clip, Schumer is gifted a gun as an anniversary present by Taran Killam, Bobby Moynihan and Schumer’s Trainwreck co-star, Vanessa Bayer, arrive at a hospital to have their child with a rifle in along for the ride, Kate McKinnon fires shots in the air from her revolver while taking a lovely jog through a park, and so forth.

Schumer’s anti-gun stance has been well-documented, especially following the shooting at a screening of her movie, Trainwreck, in a Lafayette, Louisiana, movie theater, leaving two dead and nine wounded.

In the wake of the shooting, Schumer joined her cousin, Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, to make an emotional plea for stricter gun control regulations.

“Unless something is done and done soon, dangerous people will continue to get their hands on guns.We need a background check system without holes and fatal flaws. We need one with accurate information that protects us like a firewall. The critics scoff and say, ‘Well, there’s no way to stop crazy people from doing crazy things,’ but they’re wrong. There is a way to stop them. Preventing dangerous people from getting guns is very possible. We have common-sense solutions. We can toughen background checks and stop the sale of firearms to folks who have a violent history or history of mental illness.”

Schumer subsequently blamed “money” for the persistent lack of gun control in America in follow-up statements made to Rolling Stone magazine at Italy’s Locarno Film Festival, referring to the powerful gun lobby in the United States.

In her monologue, the 34-year-old comedienne took on the entertainment industry’s lack of strong female role models — one of her favorite topics — by bashing the Kardashian sisters.

“We have to be a good role model for these little girls because who do they have? All they have, literally, is the Kardashians. She doesn’t have a Malala poster in her room — trust me. Is that a great message for little girls? A whole family of women that take the faces they were born with as a light suggestion.”

On Saturday’s SNL , Schumer was hilarious as she parodied teachers seducing young male students in a tight pencil skirt and impersonated President Abraham Lincoln’s wife, Mary Todd Lincoln.

Amy Schumer’s appearance comes near the end of a very busy year . Not only did she make her feature film debut in Trainwreck , she became friends with Jennifer Lawrence and the two are reportedly working on a screenplay together, according to Entertainment Weekly .

This year’s Emmy winner for her Comedy Central Show Inside Amy Schumer also appeared on The Bachelorette , opened at Madison Square Garden for Madonna, and just sold a book proposal for $8 to $10 million. Later this month, she will star in an HBO stand-up special.
