Last week, The Inquisitr reported that Sarah Paulson will play conjoined twins Bette and Dot in American Horror Story: Freak Show . While that part is true, the photo she tweeted turned out to be just a digital mock-up of her character from Asylum , Lana Winters.

Vulture caught up with Paulson, who would not reveal any background on her American Horror Story: Freak Show character . But she was willing to admit that the image she tweeted is not what she will actually look like.

“Everyone thinks that is the character of Dot and Bette in terms of the way I look — that’s just what the company came up with [to] digitally show the two heads to Ryan [Murphy],” she said. “They used a picture of me as Lana Winters because it was in the period. So that’s not what I’ll actually look like as Dot and Bette.”

So, what will Paulson look like in the new season of American Horror Story ? That is still unknown. However, Paulson revealed that she knew about her role since “the middle of last season.” She just couldn’t say anything until now.

“I know how much people want to know and how much they actually like to be surprised, and I knew that I could never do anything until Ryan told me that I could and once I got the go-ahead,” she added.

And while Paulson has known about her American Horror Story: Freak Show character for a while, there are still some things being kept under wraps. She’s not even sure if she will make it through the entire season.

“I just don’t want to be the one who gets killed, you know?” she said.

One of the actresses whose character has not yet been revealed for American Horror Story: Freak Show is Angela Bassett. Even she is uncertain at this point , according to a report from E! Online .

“All [Ryan Murphy] has told me is I’m not the bearded lady, but he said, ‘Oh, it’s better! It’s even better than that,’” she said.

The only clue she gave out is she was asked by the people behind American Horror Story if she is afraid of heights. Bassett said she’ll take on any role they give her. OK, there is one exception.

“I hope I’m not the ticket taker,” she said.

And while she’s not sure who she will be playing in the new season of American Horror Story , Bassett admitted that it will be “tough, tough, tough to surpass Marie Laveau.”

“She was truly a special phenomenon,” Bassett added.

American Horror Story: Freak Show will premiere on FX sometime in the fall.
