Amanda Seyfried is replacing Mila Kunis in Seth MacFarlane’s sequel movie Ted 2, according to an exclusive report in Deadline Hollywood on Monday Feb 24.
Seyfried’s character and story-line are not known yet, but it seems that Kunis – whose character, Lori Collins actually married Mark Wahlberg’s character, John Bennett at the end of the first Ted movie – may re-appear in a small part in the sequel.
Wahlberg will once again play the part of a 30-something Bennett. The decision to replace Kunis with Amanda Seyfried in the lead female role was simply a creative direction taken by director MacFarlane.
According to Deadline, because the decision to choose Seyfried was “business and not personal,” Kunis, still remains close to MacFarlane on a personal level. She will continue to play the voice of Meg in the wildly successful animated series, Family Guy.
The first film, in what now become a series, broke all box-office records in 2012, grossing close to $550 million worldwide. For Ted 2 , MacFarlane will once again be the producer, writer, and director
Amanda Seyfried already has previously worked with MacFarlane on a feature film. and will star in MacFarlane’s upcoming movie, A Million Ways to Die in the West, with Liam Neeson, Charlize Theron, and Neil Patrick Harris.
Seyfried’s last big-screen role was in the Linda Lovelace biopic, Lovelace, but she is probably better known for her role as Cosette in the film version of Les Miserables.
Since her first movie part in 2004, Seyfried has appeared in 22 films . Prior to this, her work in television since 1991 centered on the two series, As the World Turns and All My Children.
Ted 2 will be released in June 2015.
