By now we’ve all heard about Amanda Bynes’ not-so-shocking bong throwing incident at her New York City apartment that led to her arrest Thursday night. Immediately after her arrest the actress was taken checked into a hospital for psychiatric evaluation. Although Bynes has been released from being under psychiatric evaluation there are still details emerging from her arrest and the events that follow.
The actress, 27, looked completely out of it as she arrived to court this morning. Looking dazed and zoned out, the only interesting detail from her court appearance was the matted blonde mess of hair she wore to cover up what some sources are saying is a shaved head.
What’s reported to be a shaved head, looks more like a very short cropped hairstyle, which was revealed in her mugshot after it was released upon her booking. Bynes arrived in handcuffs at the Manhattan Criminal Court, and after she was released it was said Bynes apparently had to borrow money from her lawyer for a cab home. It was reported that after the cab ride the actress didn’t tip the cabbie.
NYPD spokesman Det. Brian Sessa spoke about the scene after a 911 call was placed by someone in Bynes’ apartment. When he arrived to the scene the detective said, “There was a heavy smell of marijuana.[Then] she took the bong and threw it out the window.” Before Bynes was arrested a neighbor saw her cropped hair , describing her appearance to The Post as: “She looked like she was headed to a rock concert or a Halloween party. I didn’t know if she was someone from the streets or what. I was sitting in the lobby while it was raining [yesterday] and this girl was wearing this crazy wig and old-school Nikes.”
While it’s easy to see that Amanda Bynes is going through some troubling times, Bynes’ constant change of her appearance may suggest this as well. While famous figures such as Natalie Portman and Sinead O’Connor have sported stylish shaved heads, there’s something very reminiscent of pop star Britney Spears’ shaved head and her subsequent public meltdown. In 2008, Spears shaved head and all locked herself in her bathroom and was later strapped to a gurney outside of her California home.
