Amal Clooney is reportedly pregnant after George Clooney’s new wife was spotted sporting what may have been a baby bump.
Speculation surrounding the former Amal Alamuddin has been rising for weeks, with a number of reports indicating that she is pregnant . George and Amal have reportedly bought a $16 million mansion near her hometown in Sonning, Berkshire in England where they plan to raise their family together.
George is reportedly thrilled at the idea that Amal Clooney is pregnant, with a source saying that he wants to give her the go-ahead to spend anything she wants on the baby.
It appears to be quite a turnaround for Clooney, who once had a reputation as Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor and didn’t appear to have any intention to settle down. Reports indicate that he even plans to take some time off from acting in order to focus on raising children.
But even during his single days, George Clooney seemed to be open to the idea of kids. In an interview with People magazine from 2006, he didn’t rule out the idea of becoming a father one day.
“I think it’s the most responsible thing you can do, to have kids. I think it’s the biggest responsibility you’ll have, and it’s not something to be taken lightly,” Clooney said. “I don’t have that thing in me that says, ‘must do it.’ I don’t see myself ever having kids. But everything in my life has changed over periods of time… and the world does change.”
George also indicated that his reputation of shying away from marriage was overblown. Clooney said he made that statement once in the wake of a failed marriage, and the reputation just seemed to stick.
“I haven’t had aspirations [to get married or have kids], ever,” he told Esquire back in January 2014. “I was married in 1989. I wasn’t very good at it. I was quoted as saying I’ll never get married again pretty much right after I got divorced and then I’ve never talked about it since.”
But the couple has shot down past reports that Amal Alamuddin is pregnant. When rumors surfaced earlier this month that George Clooney’s wife was expecting, his rep shot it down with a statement that read simply, “Amal Clooney is not pregnant.”
