Allen Iverson’s ex-wife, Tawanna, wants the former NBA player to pay for 13 years worth of child support, totaling more than $1.2 million.

Iverson was ordered to pay his ex-wife $8,000 a month in child support for their five children back in January. Tawanna Iverson has had to go to court on several occasions because her ex-husband hasn’t made any payments.

In June, Tawanna Iverson claimed that the 38-year-old owed $40,000 in child support and wanted him thrown in jail for failing to pay. According to TMZ, Iverson filed legal documents on August 1 asking a judge to make her ex-husband pay for all of the child support between now and October 2026, when their youngest turns 18. Altogether, she wants $1,272,000 to put into a trust for the children .

A court has yet to make a ruling.

Tawanna Iverson filed for divorce in 2010, and it was finalized in February. Allen Iverson paid $3 million in the divorce settlement. At the time, a family court judge ruled in favor of maternal custody and said that the former Philadelphia 76ers guard had no idea how to be a father.

“[Iverson] does not know how to manage the children; has little interest in learning to manage the children and has actually, at times, been a hindrance to their spiritual and emotional growth and development,” the judge said.

“For example, he has refused to attend to an obvious and serious alcohol problem, which has caused him to do inappropriate things in the presence of the children while impaired. He has left the children alone without supervision,” the judge added. “He has left his young daughters in a hotel room with men who are unknown to the mother.”

Allen Iverson was granted some visitation rights , but with conditions. He was prohibited from drinking any alcohol for the next 18 months and, until the time all of his children become adults, he can’t drink any alcohol within 24 hours of his visitation. He was also ordered to see a psychiatrist and attend AA meetings for a year.
