On Facebook, the term “GOP HQ” has nearly 50,000 people talking. A search for “GOP Headquarters” initially turned up approximately 30,000 or so people talking about the topic on Facebook, but the social media site appears to be filtering the search — perhaps in the interest of safety for Republican headquarter offices around the nation. The term “Republican party” has garnered nearly 100,000 people talking on Facebook, while “Republican headquarters” has drawn a healthy amount of talk as well. All the hubbub regarding the GOP headquarters is due to a heinous firebombing that recently occurred — one that has sent shockwaves throughout Republican headquarters as well as a warning for GOP headquarters around the nation.

As seen in the above photo, the window of the Orange County Republican Headquarters in Hillsborough, North Carolina, was broken from a firebomb that contained flammable liquid that was thrown through the window, according to authorities.

As seen in the above photo, a couch that was burned as a result of the bombing sits near burned campaign signs inside the Orange County Republican Headquarters.

According to the below tweet from Christine Sperow of WBTV , all GOP offices — including Meck GOP , which is the Republican office in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina — have received a security warning. This is after a GOP headquarters was bombed in Orange County, North Carolina, and graffiti left on a nearby wall.

The graffiti, which was painted over as seen in the below photo, had the spray-painted phrase, “Nazi Republicans leave town or else.”

As reported by Newser , a group of Democrats have responded to the GOP office being bombed in Orange County by raising monies via a GoFundMe page.

The page easily met the goal to raise $10,000 to help re-open the GOP office by surpassing that $10,000 total within four hours. Once the page surpassed more than $13,000 in donations, the page was closed.

The GoFundMe page’s description explained the reasoning behind setting up the page in the first place, along with an update on how quickly the donation page met and surpassed its fundraising goals.

“On October 16, a North Carolina headquarters of the Republican Party was firebombed , and an abhorrent threat was painted on its outside wall. As Democrats, we are starting this campaign to enable the Orange County, North Carolina, Republican office to re-open as soon as possible. Until an investigation is undertaken, we cannot know who did this or why. No matter the result, this is not how Americans resolve their differences. We talk, we argue, sometimes we march, and most of all we vote. We do not resort to violence by individuals or by mobs.

“So, let’s all pitch in , no matter what your party affiliation, in and get that office open again quickly.

“Less than 40 mins after going public, we met our goal and then some! Thank you all for showing that Americans are thirsty for civility and decency, and that we love our democracy above all our differences.”

Meanwhile, both presidential candidates reacted to the bombing of the GOP office.

As seen in the below tweets, Hillary called the bombing of the Republican headquarters horrific while expressing Clinton’s gratitude that no injuries occurred.

The attack on the Orange County HQ @NCGOP office is horrific and unacceptable. Very grateful that everyone is safe.

Donald Trump wrote that “animals” backing Hillary caused the bombing — and claimed that the bombing happened because Trump was winning.

Animals representing Hillary Clinton and Dems in North Carolina just firebombed our office in Orange County because we are winning @NCGOP

Social media participants are having a variety of reactions to the bombing, as can be seen in a sample comment below.

“Call Republicans Nazis, yet they use Gestapo tactics to get their point across…I’ve had my Trump sign stolen out of my yard, along with several of my neighbors signs, yet there is a Clinton/Kaine sign on my street that no one has messed with.”
