Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria Thomas welcomed a baby girl on Friday.
The 29-year-old yoga instructor went into labor and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she gave birth to what Hilaria said an “absolutely perfect” baby girl.
“Alec is overjoyed,” a source told the New York Daily News .
This is the first baby for Hilaria Thomas with the 55-year-old actor. Alec already has one child, daughter Ireland Baldwin with his former wife Kim Basinger.
Hilaria shared the exciting news with Twitter followers on Friday.
“We are overjoyed to announce the birth of our daughter Carmen Gabriela ,” she tweeted.
Alec Baldwin played the role of supportive husband and new-again father, showing up to the hospital with several bags and unloading them along with a couple of friends.
If reports are true, Alec might have a busier schedule ahead. In addition to changing diapers and warming up bottles, he will reportedly be showing up at the anchor desk.
Baldwin has been in talks with MSNBC for a weekly program, airing Friday at 10 pm.
MSNBC executives have played coy about the reports.
“We’re fans of Alec but we’ve got nothing to say regarding this unconfirmed report,” the rep said.
If true, Alec Baldwin would inject a bit of liveliness into a stagnant lineup. On Friday nights MSNBC airs no new programming, instead repeating episodes of the prison documentary Lockup.
Baldwin already has a couple of other projects, including a WNYC podcast of interviews called “Here’s the Thing,” and an upcoming HBO documentary called Seduced and Abandoned about the pitfalls of big-budget movies.
Though Alec Baldwin hasn’t commented on the MSNBC report, the once-a-week schedule would be perfect for raising a newborn.

Alec Baldwin and Hilaria had announced in February that they were expecting their first child. They also just celebrated their first wedding anniversary in June.
