Alabama Father Hid Heroin Inside Two-Year-Old Daughter’s Diaper, Arrested

Police officials from Birmingham, Alabama, have arrested a man after they found 14 grams of heroin hidden inside his two-year-old daughter’s diaper. The man, identified as 23-year-old Kenneth Bell, was arrested after the toddler’s elder sister, who is five years old, tipped off the police about the heroin.

According to Reuters, following the tip-off, the car driven by Kenneth Bell was pulled over by narcotics detectives in the Birmingham suburb of Irondale. According to Irondale Police spokesman Detective Michael Mangina, they were acting on suspicion he was moving heroin. A drug sniffing dog that the officers had with them detected the presence of the narcotics inside the vehicle. After pulling him over, officers asked Kenneth Bell, who was with his two daughters and their mother, to step out of the vehicle so that they could conduct the search for heroin.

Officers already suspected William of hiding the heroine inside his daughter’s diaper after the elder daughter had tipped them off. She had reportedly told them the following.

“Daddy put something in sister’s diaper.”

After they conducted a search of the vehicle, officers asked the mother of the children to undress the little child and remove her diaper. They immediately noticed a bulge in the diaper caused by a bag of heroin stashed inside. Officials estimated it to be worth at least $2,500.

The police officers wasted no time in arresting Bell. He was charged with chemical endangerment of a child and drug trafficking, confirmed Irondale Police spokesman Detective Michael Mangina. He was later set free after posting a $25,000 bail.

Later, Mangina told Reuters the following.

“This is somebody that shouldn’t even have fathered children. He needs to own up to his own mistakes, and certainly not involve his children, who are babies, basically.”

Mangina confirmed that the two children were safe and is now in the custody of their mother. She has not been arrested. State child welfare authorities, however, are investigating the case.

This is certainly not the first time that irresponsible parents have used their own children as drug trafficking instruments. Earlier this year, the Inquisitr had reported about a similar case wherein a mother was arrested for smuggling heroin and ecstasy in her child’s diaper bag.
