If there is one person who shouldn’t miss his alarm it’s Al Roker. The veteran TV personality overslept this morning for the first tim ein 39 years and missed the taping of Wake Up With Al.
Yes, Al Roker, the man responsible for waking up an entire nation of people with his morning show, overslept.
Al wrote on Twitter : “After 39 years, it happened. I overslept and missed a show. Missed #WUWA. But will be on time for @today.”
Salon notes that Wake Up With Al airs an hour before Today . Roker said that his phone alarm never went off and he overslept.
For most of us, that sort of mistake would probably go unnoticed (at least to the national media) but the number 1. requirement on Al Roker’s job description is to, you know, wake up.
When Al did show up to the set he joked that they should change the name of his show to Al, Wake Up!
Matt Lauer said that he almost started a death rumor about his colleague after he tweeted “Rip Van Roker.” Lauer was referring to Rip Van Winkle but some people saw it as RIP Al Roker.
