Charlotte, North Carolina — Actress Aisha Tyler may be best known for being a female gamer and quite a funny stand-up comedian in addition to her acting work, but the star was out stumping for Obama and reminding women of what they stand to lose should the GOP take the White House in the next election.

Speaking at a rally Tuesday outside the NASCAR Hall Of Fame, Aisha Tyler not only expounded upon the benefits of Planned Parenthood for American women everywhere, she also disclosed her personal experiences with the family planning and women’s health centers.

Tyler’s comments seem to reference the frequent GOP concept that Planned Parenthood is an abortions-only outfit, as evidenced in Sen. Jon Kyl’s comments that more than 90 percent of what Planned Parenthood does is abortion related. (In actuality, that number is closer to 3 percent.)

When cornered by CNN, Kyl hedged that the comment was not “intended to be a factual statement.” Aisha Tyler brought up the misconception as well as a few others during her speech, in which she said :

“Planned Parenthood is not just about abortion. That is just what the other side wants to tell you. It’s not just about abortion. It is about women’s lives and our health and about women being able to be the architects of their own destiny because when you choose when to become a mother, when you choose when to make a family, you don’t let somebody else make that choice for you, It’s your choice and we are going to fight to make sure no one ever, ever takes it away.”

Tyler continued:

“That is why I take it incredibly personally when someone like Mitt Romney says that he wants to defund Planned Parenthood … If you love women — then if you want to do things like make abortion illegal even in cases of rape or incest, if you want to make it difficult for women to get access to birth control, if you want to make sure that medical insurance does not cover birth control, if you want to repeal the Affordable Health Care Act — You do not love women.”

Have you, like Aisha Tyler, relied on Planned Parenthood in the past for regular gynecological care?
