Afroman is sorry for decking a female fan at a concert, with the “Because I Got High” rapper backing off from a previous explanation that the devastating punch was an “involuntary reflex reaction.”

The rapper was caught on video punching a female concertgoer as she tried to dance near him onstage.

He was performing at a Mardi Gras celebration at Kress Live, a concert venue in Biloxi, Mississippi, when the incident took place. The woman was able to walk onto the stage, and was dancing behind Afroman, who was playing a guitar onstage. The rapper then turned suddenly, delivering a powerful blow that sent the woman flying backward.

“Afroman was about five songs into his set when the incident occurred. We pulled the plug on him, and security met him at the bottom of the stage to escort him outside, where he was taken into custody, ” said Chase Taylor, owner of Kress Live.

“Kress Live does not condone this type of behavior. We like to keep a safe environment, and we addressed the situation the best way we could,” he added.

Afroman, whose real name is Joseph Foreman, was arrested by police and charged with simple assault .

He initially tried to claim that the punch was outside his control , a simple reaction to feeling the woman dancing close behind him.

“This was a completely involuntary reflex reaction to people infringing on his stage space,” his rep said in a prepared statement. “It was uncharacteristic behavior that was initiated by outside uncontrolled forces.”

But Afroman later admitted that he was in control, apologizing for punching the woman.

“I apologize for my actions,” he said. “I will be making a full formal apology and excepting full responsibility for my actions. I will address everything today on TMZ at 2 o’clock eastern time.”

TMZ had no further information as of 3 p.m. ET.

Afroman paid is free from jail after paying $330 cash to bond.
