The adult sleepover at the American Museum of Natural History answers a question many parents have asked themselves when they see the giant kid sized playgrounds, and elaborate slumber parties: “Why should kids have all the fun?”

The question is being answered in the form of a large adult sleepover at the AMNH in August.

The Adult Sleepover at the American Museum of Natural History is the first ever adults-only sleepover event. According to the official site of the AMNH museum, the event is being built off the successful A Night at the Museum sleepover program which is based off the popular Hollywood movie. The event is open to adults 21 years of age and up and will be a more “sophisticated” event than the one designed for children.

The sleepover begins at 6:30 and runs till 9am the following morning at $375 a person. The event will open with a champagne reception and live jazz music. The attendees of the event will be given almost the complete run of the museum where “they might run into a herd of elephants in the Akeley Hall of African Mammals or come face to face with looming dinosaur skeletons, including a 65-million-year-old Tyrannosaurs rex.”

Adults who want to attended the sleepover at the American Museum of Natural History will also be invited to attend seveal special presentations for the night, some that will easily take the place of the traditional “ghost story.” The Power of Poison exhibit will be hosted by the Curator Mark Siddall. Other attractions will include Spiders Alive! or have a romantic viewing of the Dark Universe show.

As the night wears on, the sleeping bags will be rolled out underneath the watchful gaze of the 94-foot-long fiberglass blue whale in the Milstein Family Hall of Ocean Life at the American Museum of Natural History

Other listed activités included in the admission price include dinner, evening and light breakfast snacks, live music, fossil fact-finding tour by flashlight, live animal exhibitions and access to “Special exhibits” throughout the museum. People planning to attend the event will need to bring their own sleeping bag and pillow for the provided cot as well as the normal things you might want to bring for a sleep over at a friends house with the exception of pajamas. No PJ’s allowed, only warm comfortable clothing to sleep in.

If you are in the New York City area and have $375 to spend at an adult sleepover at the American Natural History Museum, registration is open here, but act quickl,y as the event is only open to the first 150 people.
