It looks like actor Aaron Paul won’t have any trouble with finding a role outside of his hit series Breaking Bad . Paul, who played the character of meth dealer with a heart of gold Jesse Pinkman, is currently promoting his latest Sundance film Hellion . While doing so, Paul got into some dirt about what may be next in his future. If going by his hints, the Breaking Bad star’s next big role can see him taking on Stephen King’s widely critically acclaimed novel series The Dark Tower .

While nothing is confirmed about The Dark Tower series and Aaron’s involvement, the actor sat down for a meeting with director Ron Howard in hopes to take on the role of 23-year-old Eddie Dean. Dean, who shows up in the second novel, is a former heroin addict and a member of The Gunslinger Roland Deschain’s second “ka-tet.”

Of his meeting with director Ron Howard, Paul seemed surprised that the famed filmmaker would meet with him for a part in the epic series:

“I just had a general sit down with Ron Howard, who is a huge fan of the show (Breaking Bad, naturally), which is such a crazy thing to even think that Ron Howard even knows who I am. They’re definitely planning on making it.”

While it does seem like a type casting decision, strictly because of Paul’s role on Breaking Bad , it still seems like a good opportunity and one that can lead to a huge franchise. Of the plans for The Dark Tower series, Paul said:

“I’m excited. Their goal is to do three films, but also have a television element to it, which will be very interesting. From what I hear, Eddie Dean is a pretty epic, iconic character.”

If Aaron Paul doesn’t end up getting a role in The Dark Tower series, he still has plenty of projects to be proud of. In addition to Hellion , Paul seems to be doing both blockbuster films and meaty independent films. Up next is a film called Quad , A Long Way Down opposite Toni Collette and Imogen Poots, and Exodus featuring Christian Bale and Sigourney Weaver.

Of taking on roles post- Breaking Bad Aaron Paul told USA Today that he wants , “to do special projects. I would rather not work than work on just okay stuff. The things that really excite me are the things that make you feel. I gravitate toward edgy, intense, dark films that just grab you by the throat.”

Aaron Paul’s next project to hit theaters is the Need For Speed car film, which releases on March 14, 2014.
