Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are getting ready to celebrate his birthday this weekend, but a new report indicates that Stefani is having some mixed emotions about her man’s special day. Since Shelton’s birthday falls on Father’s Day this year, sources tell Hollywood Life that it’s a bit different. You see, Stefani has three sons with her ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale, and has previously celebrated Father’s Day with him; celebrating her man’s birthday instead is reportedly causing some problems .
Although Stefani and Rossdale are divorced, Father’s Day is a special day for Rossdale and his boys. It’s a day that they have always spent as a family. Now, Stefani will more than likely be spending the day with Shelton — and her boys will more than likely spend the day with their father. It’s definitely different from how things used to be when Stefani and Rossdale were together.
“Father’s Day reminds her of Gavin. It also reminds her of the family she is starting with Blake because he is now getting into the role of step dad even with them not being officially married,” a source told Hollywood Life .
Hollywood Life has been known to stretch the truth from time to time (just refer to Gossip Cop ‘s list of countless rumor-debunking articles), so it is beyond possible that Stefani isn’t really feeling emotional about Shelton’s birthday falling on Father’s Day. Would it be normal for her to feel emotional just because of the memories she has from her former life? Sure. But bringing Shelton into it seems like a bit of a stretch.
Stefani likely has something really special planned for Shelton’s birthday. Although the two will more than likely do something super low key that the rest of the world probably won’t know about, fans just like knowing that the two are together — and happy.
Of course, there is the onslaught of engagement, pregnancy, and split rumors that have popped up on the internet every other day since the two started dating, but Shelton and Stefani seem to take the tabloid stuff in stride. They don’t let too many things bother them and they certainly don’t let that stuff interfere with their happiness.
