Leonard Cooper is a Jeopardy legend. He’s nowhere near the game show’s top earner but he did give Alex Trebek one of the greatest final Jeopardy answers in the show’s history. The teen’s final Jeopardy answer? Some guy in Normandy.
Cooper was entertaining to watch throughout the teen tournament. He answered a question about the collarbone by fumbling through a bunch of words while touching his shoulders. He bet it all on a Daily Double even though he was already way ahead of his other competitors.
And when the final answer had him stumped, he answered the question like a game show boss.
The final answer: “On June 6, 1944, he said, “The eyes of the world are upon you.”
The final question (answer) was Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Cooper was stumped by the question and wrote: “Some guy in Normandy. But I just won $75,000.”
According to the Huffington Post , the winner of the Teen tournament is given a prize of $75,000 unless they’ve earned more during the show. Cooper’s total over two days was $40,000 so he didn’t lose any money by keeping quiet on the final question.
