Shatner Calls Abrams A ‘Pig’ For Directing ‘Star Wars’

William Shatner doesn’t have a problem with J.J. Abrams directing the new Star Trek sequels. And he doesn’t have a problem with the director taking over the Star Wars franchise. Shatner does, however, have a problem with Abrams scooping about both franchises together.

Shatner said: “He’s being a pig. He’s collecting the two franchises and holding them close to his vest. He’s probably the most talented director of that ilk that we have, but he’s gone too far this time.”

Shortly after Shatner called Abrams a pig he called the director a buddy, saying that he wanted to have sushi with him and talk about Star Trek and Star Wars.

Shatner said:

“I think of him as a buddy of mine. I’ve taken him out for sushi. I think it’s time for J.J. and I to have another sushi and let me put him straight about two of the largest franchises … Not employing me in either one of them is just foolhardy.”

Several people expressed skepticism when J.J. Abrams was chosen to do the new Star Wars films but being “too greedy” wasn’t one of the criticisms.

Do you think Abrams is a “pig” for taking on two of the biggest sci-fi movie franchises in history? Should Abrams share the wealth?
