Robin Roberts is home again after a brief hospital stay while she battled a virus. The TV host gave fans an update on her health condition via a Facebook blog post.
Roberts revealed she spent the last week in a New York hospital battling through a virus, but she is doing better now, reports CBS News .
The Good Morning America co-host has been on medical leave since August while she is being treated for myelodysplastic syndrome, a rare blood and bone marrow disease. Roberts wrote to fans on Sunday, saying:
“After about a week back in the hospital I returned home Friday night. A latent virus, many of us have, was not responding to medication and was pulling down my numbers. Our immune systems usually take care of a virus like this … but mine is only 59 days old.”
Robin Roberts added that the re-visit to the hospital took an emotional toll on her but that she was reassured by doctors who said that BMT (bone marrow transplant) patients are usually re-admitted for various reasons.
E! Online notes that the 51-year-old TV personality was first released from the hospital in October after she underwent the bone marrow transplant on September 20. Roberts added about the hospital visit”
“I decided to look at my brief stay as a ‘tune up’ … and then I would be back on the road to recovery. By the grace of God, I am!”
Robin Roberts is now at home, continuing her recovery. There is no word on when Roberts will be returning to co-host Good Morning America .
