Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have released another ridiculously expensive purse. The Olsens’ $55,000 handbag is set to go on sale next week and it looks like the former child stars have already picked out the bags’ ideal demographic: Prescription pill poppers.

The bag, which is set to go on sale on December 12, is decorated with various pills. According to Entertainment Weekly the Olsens’ $55,000 handbag is nearly identical to the $39,000 crocodile bag they sold last. This year bag apparently warrants a $16,000 because designer Damien Hirst decorated the bags with a bunch of multi-colored pills. If it makes you feel any better the Olsen twins will be donating some of the money to UNICEF.

If you’re interested in buying one of the Olsens’ $55,000 handbags you’ll need to get yourself a good therapist. If that doesn’t help and you still want to buy one of the bags, you’ll need to be one of the first people on justoneye.com on December 12. Only a dozen of the bags will be sold from the website.

The website writes:

“Exclusive to Just One Eye and only one in a rare, limited edition of 12, this incredible piece features numerous multicolored prescription pill appliqués, of varying sizes and colors, specially created by Damien Hirst. This one-of-a-kind wearable art work features original art by Hirst, meticulously applied to front, back, and straps, of The Row’s beautifully crafted backpack, the centerpiece design of their 2012 collection. Using traditional techniques, this stunning backpack was crafted in Italy and made with specially sourced materials. Created of black patent leather Nile crocodile, the backpack’s many features include internal detachable handle, adjustable canvas straps, internal zip-fastening, slit pockets, and small gold-plated brass feet at base. Each backpack is fully lined in the highest quality leather and comes with metal mirror plate and case, as well as designer-stamped gold-plated brass hardware. Signed by Damien Hirst.”

The $39,000 crocodile handbag was put on Anderson Cooper’s RidicuList last year but the Olsen twins got the last laugh when the product quickly sold out. Do you think the Olsens’ $55,000 handbag will do the same?

Too Fab reports that the pill popping bags have been criticized by some for pushing drug use. Others have noted that the prescription pill bag is an odd choice for Mary-Kate Olsen who was a close friend of Heath Ledger, who died of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.

What do you think of the Olsen twins pill popping bags?
