A Dairy Queen employee has become a viral hero after he confronted an elderly customer who stole $20 from a blind man .
The blind man in question didn’t know he had dropped the $20 bill on the floor, which was then eagerly swept up and pocketed by the woman.
Another Dairy Queen customer witnessed the entire incident, and she has since written an email to the store, which has circulated around the company and has now been uploaded to Reddit.
The incident occurred at the Hopkins, Minnesota Dairy Queen, and, after the employee, who is thought to have been called Joey and be aged 19, noticed “an older lady” pick up the blind man’s $20 bill he went up to her and accused of her stealing.
However, she insisted that it was her own money. The customer’s email notes, “She as well as everyone else in the store knew that it was dropped by the gentleman when he was struggling to find his pocket and put his change away.”
When questioned by Joey, the pensioner was adamant that it was her own money; however, the Dairy Queen employee insisted that he’d seen her act of thievery.
The email continues, “Your employee asked her again to return the money to its rightful owner. She declined to do so. He then asked her to leave the store as he would not serve someone as disrespectful as her.”
The woman reacted angrily to Joey’s words and then even began to swear at him. However, Joey was undeterred and apparently remained calm throughout, resisting the temptation to erupt in anger at her.
Joey then decided to reimburse the man out of his own pocket. The customer wrote, “I was in shock by the generosity that your employee had, taking his own money out of his own wallet to give to the customer because some other lady decided to steal something that wasn’t hers.”
