Eli Manning threw for 510 yards on Sunday to secure a 41-34 win with just 31 seconds left in the New York Jets game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Manning threw for a mind boggling 295 yards passing in the second half, the eighth most in NFL history for a single half and just 3 yards short of Phil Simms’ New York Giants record. Manning managed to threw touchdowns to Hakeem Nicks (23 yards), Victor Cruz (80 yards), and Martellus Bennett (33 yards), enough to give the Giants the 34-27 victory with 3:59 to play.
Josh Freeman later tied the game on a 41-yard pass to Mike Williams, which led Manning to drive the New York Giants 80 yards in just four plays for the win. A 50-yard completion to Hakeem Nicks gave the Giants the win.
The game also matched the first time since the 1951 Rams that a team had a 500-yard passer and two 150-yard receivers during the same game.
Eli Manning finished the game with 31 of 51 passing for a total offensive game of 604 yards. Cruz finished the game with 11 catches for 179 yards while Nicks added 10 catches for 199 yards, a personal best.
Adding to the New York Giants total score was Lawrence Tynes who kicked four field goals.
On the Tampa Bay Buccaneers side, Freeman ended the game with 15 of 28 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns.
Despite his impressive passing performance, Eli Manning nearly threw the game away after tossing three first-half interceptions, which turned into 21 points for the Buccaneers.
