Los Angeles, CA – Joe Pesci has settled a dispute with Fiore Films over his role in a biopic on the Gotti crime family .
The Oscar-winning actor filed a lawsuit against Fiore in July 2011 after the production company allegedly reneged on a deal for a $3 million role in the film. Fiore later offered the 69-year-old actor a smaller part in the movie, as well as a lower paycheck.
An attorney for the actor, Jessica Trotter, confirmed Monday that Pesci had settled the dispute, but declined to give further details. Fiore’s own attorney, Michael Froch, said he could only confirm the case had been dismissed.
In his lawsuit, Pesci claimed he had gained 30 pounds as part of his preparation to play a childhood friend and enforcer of crime boss John Gotti Sr.
Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father has not yet started filming, and casting confusion seem to have plagued the project so far. Lindsay Lohan was originally booted from the cast of the film in April 2011, only to be reinstated within 24 hours . According to the most recent reports, Lohan is still not totally confirmed to be playing a part in the movie.
Gotti ‘s director Barry Levinson was only chosen after Nick Cassavetes had to drop out of the project due to a scheduling conflict.
As for the Pesci drama, perhaps Fiore Films thought the veteran actor was being funny?
