New details have been revealed about Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag !

As we already know, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag is the next generation debut of the series where protagonist Desmond Miles plays through the memories of Connor’s great grandfather and British pirate Edward Kenway. Although it has been revealed that Desmond Miles won’t be featured in this chapter of the long-running series. Ubisoft wants to put you in the shoes of the pirate without taking you out for “real world” side missions, making the game more immersive.

Ubisoft says the new game will be 15-20 hours long, and include new assassin tombs much like Assassin’s Creed 2 did. They feel that the puzzle-based elements of the “hidden” tombs were one of the most fun parts of the second game, and to a degree, they’re right. There was almost nothing like the feeling that one mistake would turn you into an assassin pancake on the floor you left about three minutes ago, as you find your way to the top of the room for something that will help you unlock one of the biggest prizes in the game.

The question about the new tombs is whether they’ll unlock a new unbreakable armor set or something else if you explore them all. Perhaps you’ll unlock the steering mechanism for the ultimate ship. Who knows, other than Ubisoft?

Much like previous games, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag will also make use of “drunken” pirates to possibly create distractions. This is a lot like in AC2 , when you used thieves or prostitutes to hold the attention of groups of guards while you raced to a goal. From what we’ve heard, it may be about the same this time around.

Ubisoft also claims that you will be able to use stealth in most of the game, since as any Assassin’s Creed veteran knows, alerting a ton of guards can seriously hamper your progress, especially if it causes your target to flee. Of course, how a target would escape that easily from a pirate ship is a good question. Swimming isn’t a very fast method of travel, especially with layers of clothes and weapons.

What do you think of the details revealed about Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag ? Are you excited to play the game?
