Wii U sales figures are starting to finally head upwards. The recent struggles by the company made it look as if the newest Nintendo console was headed for a downward spiral. According to recent reports, software sales for the console went up by 125 percent for the week that ended March 23.
There are a couple of different reasons why Nintendo might be seeing a recent spike. At least a couple of reports seem to think that the release of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate was at least part of the reason for the rebound.
If that truly is the case, then Nintendo better not pop champagne corks just yet because that would mean that the sales numbers they saw a few weeks ago are certainly not going to continue.
Wii U sales numbers have also been helped by the fact that more than one retail store had recently cut the price for the console. Even a cut of $50 can mean the difference between success and failure simply because people see the price reduction as being enough of a savings to make buying the device worth while.
This uptick in sales comes despite the fact that the console has gotten nothing, but bad news when it comes to new games on the horizon. While Lego City: Undercover might have been a game that was Wii U exclusive, but bigger games like BioShock Infinite or even Dead Island: Riptide are skipping the console.
There are a ton of different reasons why some of the more well known games are going to be offered up on platforms other than the Nintendo’s but the basics are that the device simply isn’t able to offer what the others can.
That isn’t going to change anytime soon, and Nintendo is going to have to adjust quickly to take advantage of the recent sales uptick.
