The world saw the royal baby footman as he proudly helped present the announcement of the birth of the heir to the British throne last week.
Badar Azim, 25, was given the job of placing the official proclamation of the birth of Prince George in an easel outside Buckingham Palace for everyone to see.
However, the proud footman was forced to leave England and head back home to the slums of Calcutta in his native India after the Home Office declined to renew his visa.
Azim leaves behind his posh apartment at the Palace and joins his parents, two siblings, and five other relatives in a cramped two-room house.
Badar, who is a hospitality graduate, was told to leave England despite desperate requests to be allowed to renew his visa, which was issued in 2011 after he completed his studies in Scotland.
The former royal baby footman left his post at the end of last week, just days after having the honor of helping to announce the royal birth.
Badar knew that helping with this important task would be one of the last things he did as a footman for the royal family because his work visa was going to expire.
“He is disappointed and devastated he hasn’t been able to extend his time in the UK.” said a royal source.
“Moving over here has changed his life. He had settled in and made lots of friends so he’s heartbroken to have to let it all go.”
His parents, welder Mohammed Rahim, 52, and Mumtaz Begum, 41, can not afford to fund his further education.
Badar’s life changing events began when he was picked for a sponsorship program run by St. Mary’s Orphanage in Calcutta.
His duties included carrying messages around the palace, serving tea, and greeting guests at banquets. He has met many senior royals including the Queen.
The royal baby footman’s fate is uncertain.
