If you were thinking about naming your baby “anal,” “Lucifer,” or “V8,” you better think again. New Zealand revealed its list of banned baby names today, and non-traditional names like “Mafia No Fear” have now been deemed illegal.

New Zealand’s list of banned baby names grows every year as the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages , examines name proposals from new parents. This year, the Department of Internal Affairs rejected 77 names for various reasons. Each case is different, but names can be rejected for either being obscene or just plain embarrassing.

According to Yahoo News , New Zealand’s family court ruled that a girl named “Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii” needed to have her named changed because the name was embarrassing and it was “making a fool of the child.”

This year’s list included 77 names that ranged from “Queen Victoria” to a full stop. Yes, someone tried to name their child “.”

But “.” isn’t the only bizarre name to be rejected by the Department of Internal Affairs. One family wanted to get rid of names altogether and call their “2nd” 3rd” and “4th.” Oh, someone also tried to name their kid anal.

Here are some of the best banned baby names in New Zealand.

  • Luficer
  • Anal
  • Number 16 Bus Shelter
  • Midnight Chardonnay
  • Hedges
  • Messiah
  • Princess

What do you think of the banned baby names? Should parents have limitations on what they can name their children? The list may seem funny, but offensive names can have real consequences. Two parents in New Jersey recently lost custody of their son for naming him Adolf Hitler .
