Lil Wayne To Katie Couric: ‘I’m A Gangster, Miss Katie’ Part Two

Lil Wayne and Katie Couric are unlikely bros, and the duo have a history of being real with each other — in a 2009 sit-down, the sizzurp-sipping rap star told the news anchor:

“I’m a gangster Miss Katie. I don’t take nothing from no one, I do what I want to do and I’m going to do that until the day I die. And if I can’t do that, then I’ll just die.”

In gangsta fashion, Lil Wayne not only spent subsequent time in the clink — he also was rumored to have a big problem with sizzurp, which may have even caused his scary bout of seizures in recent months.

Wayne said the seizures were down to “dehydration, working too much, lack of sleep,” adding he was “sort of epileptic,” but he did address the narcotic drink and whether it could have been a factor.

See, Lil Wayne doesn’t deny sippin’ on syrup now and again, but he checked with his doctor — and while we can’t imagine the MD was about to endorse such a practice, he also confirmed that sizzurp isn’t the reason Wayne got sick:

“I asked my Doctor… I haven’t been drinking near as where you’d be catching seizures from it… I had been taking pain pills, and what he found was that those pain pills consist of Codeine as well. So the lack of drinking Codeine the way I used to, this was a reaction to stopping the drug.”

Even then, Wayne said, he had to chill with the codeine — he added:

“I was doing too much, the doctor kind of told me, ‘We can’t tell you what to do, but I suggest your mom tell you to stop.’ ”

Because we all know that even when we vow to do what we want to do and be full-on gangster, just try pulling that business with your mom.

Lil Wayne’s Katie Couric sit down also addressed the issue of throwing in the towel — and at 30, Wayne says he doesn’t plan to stay in the game much longer. Adding that he’s “so ready to retire now,” the sizzurp drinking don also dished that he doesn’t see more than five years of work in his future.
