Ed Sheeran has been forced to deny rumors that he is dating Justin Bieber’s ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez, following incorrect media reports.
It was previously reported that the Brit singer-songwriter was in the early days of a romance with the Spring Breakers actress, after an introduction by Gomez’s best friend and Sheeran’s current tour mate Taylor Swift.
“They are hooking up!,” a source told Us Weekly magazine in an ‘exclusive,’ before revealing the momentous liaison took place over Memorial Day Weekend.
A second source insisted Gomez was all hot and bothered over Sheeran because: “She got sick of having to take care of Justin like he was her child. This is a nice escape from the drama.”
The talkative sources didn’t stop there.
It was claimed that Gomez and Bieber “are totally done … not even hooking up anymore.” This was encored by reassuring news that Sheeran is “sensitive and sweet and a lot deeper than Justin.”
Obviously, media outlets everywhere repeated the story.
Now, however, Sheeran’s camp says there is “no truth” to the dating rumors. At all.
In addition, Sheeran was spotted at Scooter Braun’s birthday party , held at Bootsy Bellows on Tuesday night (June 18) in West Hollywood, Calif. Braun is Bieber’s manager.
The “Give Me Love” singer was snapped in pictures chatting merrily away to Bieber’s bodyguard Kenny Hamilton — who is also a personal friend of Bieber’s — and other guests at the party, which does rather suggest Sheeran isn’t intimately involved with the “Come and Get It” singer.
Sheeran also recently dispelled rumors that he was collaborating musically with Gomez.
So, to recap: Ed Sheeran is not dating Selena Gomez or writing songs with her.
And, of course, it goes without saying that all the other comparison revelations about Bieber and the flame-haired Grammy nominee, not to mention Swift’s role in the fable, are also likely to be phantoms.
Moral of the story? The word “exclusive” should be used sparingly.
