A job applicant was forced to dance to a Daft Punk song during a job interview with the English electrical retail store, Currys.
Alan Bacon, a recent graduate of the University of South Wales, has since received an apology from the company after he attended their interview in Cardiff, Wales.
Bacon has revealed that, during his interview, he was asked to partake in a dance off to Daft Punk’s, “ Around The World .” He added that it was a full on “dance off,” which saw him compete against 8 other applicants.
Bacon told The Mirror , “I think everyone initially thought it was a joke. But they were serious. All professionalism went out of the window.”
He confessed that it had disrupted his preparation for the interview, explaining, “I’d spent the past week researching the company and looking forward to being able to express myself and talk about what I love doing.”
Bacon didn’t revel in the dance-off, confessing, “I just felt so embarrassed and uncomfortable. I ended up dancing to “Around the World” by Daft Punk, doing rubbish robotics in my suit in front of a group of strangers.”
The 21-year-old described the entire ordeal as degrading but noted that he went through with the dance because he is simply so desperate for work.
He continued, “I told my dad it was like a scene out of The Office. I’ve been to quite a few job interviews and have never had to do anything like it before. Another middle aged guy looked really upset as he danced to a rap song.”
Despite his moves, Bacon didn’t get the job with the retailer, with Currys explaining that “he wouldn’t fit in with the team.”
Currys have since released a statement condemning the incident:

Alan Bacon was offered another interview with the company, which he turned down.
