‘Family Guy’: Johnny Depp Revisits Edward Scissorhands [Video]

Johnny Depp will be making his Family Guy debut on Sunday night’s episode.

He will voice one of his most famous characters, Edward Scissorhands.

In the episode, Lois (voiced by Alex Borstein) is going through a mid-life crisis and begins behaving like someone half her age. As the rest of the family tries to figure out what’s wrong with her, Depp appears in a cutaway gag playing Edward Scissorhands as a night nurse.

Depp said it took a little bit to step back into the role he first played two decades ago. Executive producer Mark Hentemann said , “When he was in the booth, he said that he felt like he hadn’t done that voice since he did it in front of the camera.”

Hentemann added, “He was able to snap right back into Edward Scissorhands once we pulled up a clip from the movie. He was amazing — and demonstrated extraordinary patience with all the fawning women in our office who swarmed him.”

Family Guy was renewed for an eleventh season on May 10. Season 11 premiered on September 30. So far, five episodes have aired.

The series’ 200th episode, “Yug Ylimaf,” aired on November 11. In the episode, Brian uses Stewie’s time machine to pick up women (“bar skanks” as Stewie calls them). While trying to hide his use of the machine, he accidentally breaks it, causing time to run backward. The two must then find a way to fix the machine before Stewie has to suffer the horrible fate of being “unborn.”

The episode also pokes fun at the change in voices for Meg. When she picks up Stewie, he says, “You’re Lacey Chabert!” Chabert voiced Meg for the first season of the series, but left because she had “too much” on her plate. She also didn’t plan on being on the show for more than a season. Mila Kunis has provided Meg’s voice ever since.
