Michael Vick is still suffering the effects of a concussion he sustained almost a week ago, and has been ruled out of the Eagles game this weekend.
Vick has still been feeling headaches, fatigue, heavy eyes, and fogginess, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. Rookie quarterback Nick Foles will make the start for the Eagles on Sunday against the Washington Redskins, and the team has given no timetable for his return.
To help the symptoms, doctors have told Michael Vick to spend the weekend in a dark quiet area, avoiding exercise and watching video.
“He’s not very alert right now in terms of he just doesn’t have that energy,” head trainer Rick Burkholder said. “He’s tired all the time, he’s slept a lot, and he’s not getting rid of that fatigue. When I talk to him, he’s just not the Michael Vick I know when he’s healthy.”
Micheal Vick ‘s status as starter for the Eagles was in jeopardy even before his concussion. He has struggled with accuracy and turnovers as the team has gotten out to a disappointing 3-6 record. After a loss to the Atlanta Falcons, head coach Andy Reid said that no player’s job was safe, a statement believed to be directed at Vick, ESPN noted .
Michael Vick still has many hurdles to clear before he can return. On Friday he underwent an ImPACT test to examine his cognitive function, which Burkholder said was “below baseline.” Once he clears the test, Vick will have to undergo an exercise test on a stationary bike. Once that is passed, Vick still has to be tested by an independent neurologist before he can return to the field.
