Terrell Suggs is an important cog in the feared Baltimore Ravens defense, and after returning to practice this week the linebacker could be ready to take the field again.

Suggs, who has been on the physically unable to perform list , was finally able to practice this week, The Washington Post reported . Though Suggs has been non-committal about whether he will be able to play, there are conflicting reports as to whether he will be on the field.

ESPN ’s Adam Schefter reports that Suggs is expected to suit up Sunday against the Houston Texans, but the NFL Network ’s Albert Breer sees it differently. He quoted a team source who said he would be “shocked” if Terrell Suggs was able to play.

Suggs actually disputed the ESPN report that he was ready to play, the Baltimore Sun noted .

“There is no plan in place so we have to take it day-by-day,” said Suggs. “We went out there and practiced [Wednesday], see how it felt. I’ll practice [Thursday] , see how it feels, and I’ll practice [Friday] and see how it feels. Come Sunday, I may or may not be out there so we just have to wait. … I was really going to take [the decision] down to the [final] minute.”

After tearing his Achilles’ tending on May, Suggs had vowed to return this year, though most expected he would not be back until September.

“To what extent, to what he’s able to do, I think we should temper our expectations a little bit,” said Ravens coach John Harbaugh. “He’s coming off a very serious injury. I think he’s worked really hard. He’s done a great job with the rehab, he’s followed protocol. He had no setbacks throughout the course of the whole deal.”

Though the Baltimore Ravens would like Terrell Suggs back as quickly as possible, with the bye week coming up league sources said it is more likely to see him in November.
