Following the release of Selena Gomez’s new song, “Bad Liar,” fans are wondering when they will hear more from the singer.
As some may recall, Gomez announced plans for a new album last year, but after suddenly canceling her “Revival World Tour” and checking into a months-long treatment center for issues with anxiety, depression, and panic attacks, her plans were derailed.
Now, as she continues to enjoy her new romance with The Weeknd, Selena Gomez is reportedly focused on her upcoming new music, which a source claims she will release “soon.”
“[Selena Gomez] will be dropping new music soon, very soon,” a music industry insider revealed to Hollywood Life on June 5. “After taking a big break from work and getting to a healthy place with life, Selena has worked hard on an amazing body of work and she is set to share it with the world. She has a ton of new stuff on the way, a new album, new video and even plans to get back on the road to support the new stuff.”
Selena Gomez announced her mental health struggles to People magazine in August of 2016, and weeks later, an Us Weekly report claimed the singer had checked into a rehab facility in Tennessee. The magazine also revealed that while Gomez had been working on new music, but it wasn’t clear when she would be returning to the studio.
While Selena Gomez’s upcoming new album doesn’t yet have a release date, the insider went on to reveal that the singer has been inspired by her musician boyfriend as she continues to travel with him as tends to his “Starboy: Legend of the Fall Tour.”
“Being alongside her incredible boyfriend Abel, who is in the middle of his tour, has inspired her to get back on stage despite her challenges during her last tour,” said the source. “[Selena Gomez] is so excited about her future and can’t wait for her new album, video and tour!”
Last month, another Hollywood Life insider revealed that Selena Gomez’s new relationship has been an incredible addition to her life.
“Having Abel in her life has given [Selena Gomez] new found strength and confidence. She credits her fresh, sexy romance with making her feel healthier and more alive than ever before,” the source said . “Abel’s experience in the industry and his own success have put him in a unique position to give her great advice on her own career decisions. Abel has really made her feel more secure about getting back in the studio and back on stage performing.”
“Also, thanks to being on tour with him and watching his ease doing shows, [Selena Gomez] feels like she might be ready to get back on the road again soon too!” the source added.
Selena Gomez and The Weeknd went public with her relationship on January 10 after a dinner date at Santa Monica’s Giorgio Baldi restaurant. From there, the couple has been seen around the world and enjoyed a sight-seeing tour in Italy in February. They made their red carpet debut last month during the Met Gala in New York City.
Prior to her relationship with The Weeknd, Selena Gomez was involved in a troubled relationship with Justin Bieber. However, after years of dating on and off, the couple came to blows on Instagram after Bieber posted a photo of his former flame Sophia Richie. Since then, they have reportedly kept their distance as they focus on their own lives both professionally and personally.
