How has Metta World Peace been able to recover so quickly from an injury that doctors thought would keep him out for the rest of the season? Right Said Fred might know the answer.

Originally thought to miss the rest of the season after knee surgery, Metta World Peace returned to the team on Tuesday, playing 15 minutes in win over the New Orleans Hornets.

When the player formerly known as Ron Artest was asked about his recovery, he delivered a bizarre answer that quoted the 90s pop hit “I’m Too Sexy.”

Metta World Peace said:

“Well, you know, I’m just too sexy for my cat. I’m too sexy for my cat. My cat. I’m just too sexy for my cat. If I wasn’t as sexy for my cat, I probably wouldn’t have came back. I’m so sexy, I came back. Too sexy for my cat, too sexy to wear a sleeve or a bracelet [on my knee], so I had to come back. I felt sexy, I felt like my team was working, I felt like we wanted it. We just wanted to come together collectively. Play hard, do it together. … I’m definitely too sexy for my cat, definitely, we know that. I’m also too tough to let a meniscus surgery keep me out for six weeks. I’m too sexy for the cat.”

Absurd quotes or not, Metta World Peace has made an amazing recovery from the surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee . The injury forced the Lakers to shift Kobe Bryant to small forward duties on defense and moved Jodie Meeks into the starting lineup.

When the injury happened, Metta World Peace seemed apologetic.

“Sorry bout the injury,” World Peace tweeted. “First ever knee injury. Recovery time hopefully is a week and a half.”

Metta World Peace was originally slated to miss at least six weeks while recovering from surgery , putting his return deep into the playoffs. Because the Lakers forward is eligible to be waived as part of the NBA’s new amnesty clause, it could have spelled the end of his tenure with Los Angeles.
