Shakira tweeted a photo of her baby bump on October 6, confirming to the world her previous announcement that she is pregnant.
The mother-to-be looked radiant in a purple dress with a black belt, accentuating her bump by putting her hand on her belly, reports NineMSN .
The 35-year-old Columbian singer announced her pregnancy last month, saying that she’s expecting her first child with her boyfriend and soccer star Gerard Pique. She is reportedly about six months along.
Almost instantly after she shared the photo, Shakira had almost 400,000 likes and 50,000 comments congratulating her. The singer confirmed last week that she is having a boy, stating:
“It’s gonna be a boy. This guy [Pique] is the best thing that ever happened to me in my whole life. And now we are having a baby.”
The singer met her Barcelona boyfriend in 2010 when he starred in her music video for “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa),” her World Cup theme song.
Fox News notes that Shakira had an interview with US Weekly last week, stating that the couples’ baby boy will certainly have a sibling to play and grow up with. A source with the entertainment site stated:
“They definitely want more than one together,” the source told the entertainment site. “Shakira is really looking forward to being a mother.”
The singer first announced her pregnancy on her website by writing, “As some of you may know, Gerard and I are very happy awaiting the arrival of our first baby! At this time we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives and postpone all the promotional activities planned over the next few days.”
Along with her baby bump photo, Shakira wrote, “Now I don’t have a six pack, only one pack!”
