Matt Flynn appears to be headed for the Oakland Raiders, giving the highly touted quarterback another chance to start in the NFL.

Going into the 2012-13 NFL season, Flynn was viewed as the clear No. 1 for the Seattle Seahawks, but the job was wrestled away by sensational rookie Russel Wilson. With Wilson now firmly planted as the started in Seattle, it only made sense that the Seahawks would trade Flynn and cash in on his value rather than keep him unhappy and overpaid for a backup.

Flynn came to the Seahawks as a highly touted prospect, with stellar performances in two starts with the Green Bay Packers. But he also has a thin resume, throwing only nine passes last year.

On Thursday it was reported that the Seahawks put Matt Flynn on the trading block , with multiple teams emerging as possible destinations. Though the Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals, and a handful of other teams could be in the market, a source said that a deal was “imminent” with another team.

Jason La Canfora, NFL Insider for CBS and CBSSports.com, reported that the Raiders have traded for Flynn and will be shipping off Carson Palmer. He noted that the deal was not finalized.

Sounds like Matt Flynn heading to Oakland via trade, and Carson Palmer will be on his way out (possibly to AZ). trying to nail down details

If the Seahawks were to trade Matt Flynn, the team would likely follow in the same pattern as San Francisco. The 49ers set the market by trading Alex Smith to the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason for a second-round draft pick this year as well as a conditional third-round pick that could jump to a second-rounder if Smith meets a pre-set level of success with the team.
