Actor Andy Samberg is just days away from taking center-stage as the host of the Emmy Awards on Sunday night.
The Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor opened up in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter about his pre-show thoughts and feelings as well as how he is preparing for his televised hosting gig.

When asked how he would determine whether or not his hosting is successful, Andy Samberg mentioned that he would use his parents to gauge that — not the Internet.
Q: How will you know if you’ve been successful as a host?
“If my parents are proud and say I did well.”
The Saturday Night Live alum also stated that he will avoid the Internet for an extensive period of time after the broadcast as well — a tactic that he used in the past for another televised hosting gig.
“I will generally avoid all social media. After I hosted Saturday Night Live , I didn’t look at the Internet for a week. I’d had so much fun; I didn’t want to know if people didn’t like it. But with the Emmys, you know within the first 10 minutes what people think. You’ll know early on how extra bummed to be at your own afterparty.”
After saying what he would avoid after the Emmys, Andy Samberg mentioned exactly what he would embrace with a little comic relief.
“So I’m going to keep my ears closed as much as possible — soak up the experience and maybe some tequila.”

Spending nearly seven years on Saturday Night Live undoubtedly prepared Andy Samberg for dealing with live television broadcasts.
However, hosting the Emmy Awards, one of the most popular televised award shows of the year, somewhat places the Lonely Island member in brand new territory.
Andy Samberg will essentially pull double duty on Sunday night at the Emmy Awards. In addition to hosting, he will also be rooting for his Brooklyn Nine-Nine co-star Andre Braugher who was nominated for “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.”
