A man dies on a flight to Salt Lake City from Denver despite attempts by fellow passengers to revive him.

The Salt Lake City International Airport and United Airlines have confirmed the death of a male passenger aboard a flight to Utah on Sunday. Passengers spent nearly 30 minuted trying to resuscitate the man before he was pronounced dead.

Round News reports that Jennifer Dohm, a United Airlines spokesperson, said the incident occurred on United Flight 5596 out of Denver. The deceased has not yet been publicly identified.

The man was heard snoring loudly from his seat nearly 30 minutes before the flight reached its destination. He soon quieted and once the plane landed passengers became concerned.

According to KSL News , Jared Noall, who is a combat medic with the Army Reserve, was one of the passengers who attempted CPR until medical personnel arrived. He described the unfortunate series of events:

“You could tell something was wrong. I asked, ‘Hey, sir, are you awake?’ I shook him a bit, trying to see if I could get a response out of him. We checked his throat for a pulse, and it wasn’t there, so we laid him down in the aisle and start CPR.”

Noall, along with two additional passengers, took turns performing CPR in an effort to resuscitate the man. Once paramedics arrived, the man was removed from the plane and pronounced dead a short time later.

Passengers have reportedly only described the man who died on the flight as between 30 and 40 years old.
