Kris Jenner isn’t off to a great start with her new daytime talk show, Kris.
The show debuted July 15 to respectable ratings, but fell behind another talk show, The Real, in overall ratings including the all-important female demographic. The Real is a panel-style talk show featuring Tamar Braxton, Loni Love, Adrienne Bailon, Jeannie Mai, and Tamera Mowry-Housley.
Despite the slight stumble out of the gate, Kris did well in certain segments. In Los Angeles, the show actually won its timeslot and in Dallas beat out Ellen and Dr. Phil in some key female demographics.
But critics say Kris Kardashian is focusing too much on her already over-saturated family, and some viewers want a break from keeping up with the Kardashians.
“On the off-chance Jenner doesn’t want to turn Kris into just another cynical promotional opportunity, perhaps it’s best to start looking to other topics,” wrote Newsday’s Verne Gay .
Kris Jenner may be banking on one of her famous daughters for a ratings bump, however. Kim Kardashian is booked to appear on the show, her first public appearance since giving birth in June. She will reportedly show off the weight loss she’s been working on for the past several weeks.
It seems that Kris Jenner got off on the wrong foot on several fronts. One critic has accused the reality television mom of trying to bribe critics to give her show better reviews. The critic, Linda Stasi of The New York Post, had written that new show is “so horrible it should come with a hazard warning … [Kris Jenner] comes across as a spoiled, vacuous woman with nothing to say of any interest , importance or humor.”
After the review, Stasi received a gift basket that included a dozen magnolia cupcakes and a Tiffany pen valued at $325 along with a personal note. Stasi said she wouldn’t be bought off by Kris Jenner, but also decided to keep the gift rather than return it.
