Justin Bieber wants new laws to be made in the wake of a Paparazzi photographer’s death earlier this week .

The Canadian singer said he hopes the tragedy “inspires new legislation” that would protect celebrities, photographers, and public officials from another fatal accident.

Bieber released a statement saying :

“My thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim … Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders and the photographers themselves.”

Bieber’s call for new laws has already been met with support from fellow celebrities like Miley Cyrus and organizations like the Paparazzi Reform Initiative.

Sean Burke, the founder of the Paparazzi Reform Initiative, released the following message after photographer Chris Guerra’s death .

“While we oppose the aggressive and invasive tactics employed by many paparazzi, we are greatly saddened by the death of the paparazzo hit by a car in Los Angeles this morning and our thoughts and prayers are with his or her family. We, and others in the entertainment industry, have warned that unless reform is enacted regarding the collision of celebrity vs paparazzi, someone else would be hurt or killed. That it was a member of the paparazzi doesn’t lessen the tragedy of this accident in any way … I can only hope that today’s events will bring better understanding to the various issues at play in the Wild West atmosphere that commonly manifests when paparazzi are in pursuit of a celebrity.”

The paparazzo who was killed trying to get a picture of Justin Bieber allegedly believed that the pop singer was smoking marijuana . The photographer would have made a pretty penny if he was able to get proof that Bieber was smoking marijuana, but the pictures were definitely not worth more than his life.

Do you think new laws should be made to protect celebrities and paparazzi photographers? Was this incident bound to happen, or was it just a careless mistake?
