Prince did an interview with the UK’s Daily Mirror , in which he explains his unusual position of banning digital distribution of his work and says he believes the internet is “over.”

The diminutive pop star, now 52, elaborates:

“The internet’s completely over. I don’t see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won’t pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can’t get it.

“The internet’s like MTV. At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated. Anyway, all these computers and digital gadgets are no good.

“They just fill your head with numbers and that can’t be good for you.”

Prince, who says he is always interested in “finding new ways to distribute (his) music,” has even gone so far as to remove his official website completely. Later in the interview, the artist currently known as Prince blames much of modern woes on young people who “don’t have enough God in their lives.”
