Bambi Glazebrook, a 29 year-old from Indianapolis has been charged with murder and neglect after her two-month-old son starved to death in her care. The infant’s body was found on top of a dresser drawer in her house, an abode that was then described as ‘deplorable’ and ‘unfit for human habitation’ by officers.
Glazebrook appeared in court on Wednesday morning and then pleaded not guilty to the death of Phillip Robey. Police said that her son was ‘mere skin and bones’ when they found him and only weighed five pounds.
It has been reported that family and friends of Glazebrook reported her neglect to the police and DCS several times, with people even suggesting that Phillip would still be alive if they’d responded. Child welfare later confirmed they’d received information but were unable to find the family of Phillip for weeks.
The two-month-old’s body was found on Thursday inside a drawer in the living room with an autopsy revealing that the baby had died of starvation. A cousin and neighbor of Glazebrook, Martha Robertson, recalled, “He was so small. It looked like if you tried to pick him up that he would break.”
“His cheeks were sunken in, his eyes were sunken in,” added Robertson. “He looked like he hadn’t been fed in over a month. I told her that she needed to take him to hospital.” However Glazebrook ignored these concerns which has now come with devastating consequences.
Glazebrook discovered the body at around 2pm on the day before calling the police who upon their arrival took three out of her five children away from her.
