Tareq and Michaele Salahi, the fame-whoring Real Housewives of DC couple who crowbarred their way into the national spotlight by crashing a White House state dinner , claim that they were invited to the event and that the whole debacle has been a nightmare for them.
In the video below, the Salahis deny that they were uninvited guests, annoyingly refusing to directly answer Matt Lauer’s pointed questions about who exactly invited them to the event. Lauer directly refutes their claim with a quote from Michele Jones:
“I did not state at any time, or imply that I had tickets for ANY portion of the evening’s events,” Jones said in a statement released by the White House late Monday. “I specifically stated that they did not have tickets and in fact that I did not have the authority to authorize attendance, admittance or access to any part of the evening’s activities. Even though I informed them of this, they still decided to come.”
The Salahis repeat over and over that they are “working closely with the Secret Service,” though why that would be necessary if they were invited guests remains unclear.
