Ziggy Ansah Wears Movie Theater 3D Glasses To NFL Draft

Ziggy Ansah was the fifth pick in the NFL Draft on Friday, but instead of his powerful skills the defensive end had people talking about the strange fashion statement he made with a pair of 3D movie theater glasses.

In an otherwise boring first round dominated by unsexy picks of offensive and defensive linemen, Ziggy Ansah’s 3D glasses offered a bit of excitement and a nod to his colleagues at the NBA draft. In basketball, outlandish draft day outfits are the norm, while football players have mirrored the more traditional background of the sport with standard suits.

Ansah changed that with a pair of RealD 3D movie theater glasses (with the lenses popped out, naturally). Maybe he rushed to Radio City Music Hall after catching a movie in downtown Manhattan and didn’t have time to change, or maybe he was trying to emulate Russell Westbrook or LeBron James and the new geek chic look among athletes.

Fashion statements aside, Ansah is expected to get some immediate playing time for the Detroit Lions. The 6-foot-5, 271-pound defensive end is seen as a “boom or bust” player, who could either be an All-Pro or be out of the league within five years.

“It’s a production-based sport,” Ansah said, via DetroitLions.com’s Tim Twentyman . “It doesn’t matter the experience that I got. All I know is I’ve just got to produce and work on my technique, and I know that the Detroit Lions are willing to work with me.

“I will probably start on their defensive line, you know, put me out there on the (Wide-9). I’m not going to make any promises. All I have to do is work hard and see what happens.”

Ziggy Ansah and his 3D glasses had a touch of competition from Dee Milliner, whose watch was called “gaudy” by NFL Network analyst Deion Sanders (who would know a thing or two about gaudy).
