‘We The Geeks’ Hangout Being Hosted By White House At 12 PM Friday

In celebration of geeky technology that could one day change the world, the White House on Friday will host the “We The Geeks” hangout.

The geek-themed Google+ Hangout will take place on July 19, 2013 at 12:00 pm ET.

The event is meant to celebrate real life heroes who are developing next-generation technology.

Tech being examined isn’t the likes of higher mileage cars and faster computers. Instead, the technology includes impenetrable liquid armor, self-healing and touch-sensitive synthetic skin, and various other advances in material scient that are likely years away from completion.

The “We the Geeks” series is actually a group of events that focus on innovations in materials science that could potentially lead to further space exploration and plenty of advances here on earth.

Several notable scientists making an appearance on the “We the Geeks” Google+ Hangout are James Kakalios, author of The Physics of Superheroes ; Nathan Landy, a Duke University graduate student working on an invisibility cloak; and Nate Ball, host of PBS ‘s Design Squad Nation.

The White House under President Obama’s leadership has attempted to embrace all facets of technology. The White House regularly entertains hackathons, thought leader meetings with top tech workers, and various other tech related events. In fact, President Obama while pitching the Affordable Health Care Act put a lot of emphasis on computer data management advances for better medical record keeping.
