This morning, the MTV VMA nominations were announced, and, in our eyes there were no surprises; then again, the network has really surpassed their era in surprising its viewers. That said, the list of nominations are pretty solid for songs that we’ve heard over and over by now.

Something that should come as no shock to anyone are the leaders of the pack this year. Justin Timberlake and Macklemore have walked away with six nominations. For Macklemore, this will be their first chance to pick up a moon man, and for Timberlake this will just be an opportunity to add to his shelf.

Timberlake was nominated for “Mirrors” for Video of the Year, Best Male Video, Best Pop Video, and Best Editing, while his “Suit & Tie” collaboration with Jay-Z earned the singer “Best Collaboration” and “Best Direction.”

On the other side is Macklemore & Lewis who will probably take home their first moon man. “Thrift Shop” is nominated for Video of the Year, and their smash hit “Can’t Hold Us” landed nominations for Best Hip Hop Video, Best Cinematography, Best Direction, and Best Editing. For their political charged equality anthem song, “Same Love” the duo earned their sixth nomination for Best Video with a Social Message.

Also nominated is Bruno Mars who has four nominations, Robin Thicke who has earned three, along with Drake, Calvin Harris, Fun, and Taylor Swift. The big show is set for Sunday, August 25 at the new venue Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Throughout the years the Video Music Awards has been hold in New York, Los Angeles, and Miami.

Here’s who’s competing for Video of the Year:

Justin Timberlake, “Mirrors” Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Wanz, “Thrift Shop” Bruno Mars, “Locked Out of Heaven” Robin Thicke feat. T.I. and Pharrell, “Blurred Lines” Taylor Swift, “I Knew You Were Trouble”

Who do you think will take home the big award?
