As soon as Felicity Jones was announced to join the cast of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 , the bulk of the media assumed that she would appear as the black cat , but now we may see the actress taking on an entirely different role for the franchise.
Jones shined in Like Crazy , and now she’ll go for her first blockbuster vehicle, as it’s been revealed that she may have a big role in The Amazing Spider-Man as Lily Hollister otherwise known as Menace.
The actress spoke with View London about her upcoming role in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 , and it seems as though Jones has given the go ahead to drop more hints about her role, that or she’s becoming more comfortable with actually talking about the film, as she’s been relatively quiet about her part.
Felicity Jones said about her role in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 :
“It’s all quite shrouded in secrecy, but I’m the Goblin’s girlfriend – I’m in a relationship with him, and his accomplice. I’m on the dark side.” Although she admitted that she wasn’t allowed to reveal everything, this slight reveal has changed the direction of Spider-Man fans.
If Felicity Jones is set to play Lily Hollister, she will be seen alongside Dane DeHaan, who will play Harry Osborne. As some of you may know Hollister is the girlfriend of Harry Osbourne (the Green Goblin). Although director Sam Raimi failed to include her in the first franchise, it looks like Marc Webb may decide that her role is important enough.
In the comics the character of Lily Hollister discovers Harry’s father’s chamber, and comes into contact with the powerful Goblin serum, which results in the girl gaining her signature powers. Of course this means it gives her the chance to wreck the city and go head to head with Spider-Man.
If Felicity Jones is Menace, this means The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has a bloated list of villains for Spidey to take down. So far the film has Electro (Jamie Foxx) and Rhino (Paul Giamatti), who are set to appear as the film’s main villains.
