Showtime has proven once against that it’s a network that knows exactly what its fans love. With the ratings up and the episodes in high demand by fans, Showtime has decided to renew fan favorite shows Shameless , Californication , and House of Lies .
This of course, is after a record breaking high for the premieres for its Sunday night line up, which all shows appear during. Production on these shows are set later this year, and they are to make their debut for 2014. As most cable networks, Showtime has the advantage of having a half season of 13 episodes for most of their series that they have. Perhaps this is why they’re able to tell short arcs and engage their viewers, which ultimately reflects on its ratings.
Showtime entertainment chief David Nevins said on Tuesday during an announcement about the schedule:
“Californication, House of Lies and Shameless possess highly distinctive comedic voices, and given that all three continue to grow their audience season after season – the pick-up decision was easy. I am incredibly excited to see what each of these series has in store for their next seasons.”
According to the Nielsen ratings system TV by the numbers reported that all three series premiered on a ratings high. The William H. Macy show Shameless premiered to an audience of 2 million, which was up 46 percent from season two. Right now the show averages 5.4 million viewers. House of Lies is also doing well, gaining 3.2 million viewers, which is up 10 percent from the first season. David Duchovny’s seasoned show Californication is returning for its seventh season and it currently averages 3.1 million reviewers.
