Lauren Conrad has gone from The Hills to the Huggies. The 31-year-old former MTV star turned designer has welcomed her first baby, a son, with husband William Tell. Lauren wasted no time in announcing her baby boy’s birth. Conrad posted an adorable announcement to Instagram, and The Hills and Laguna Beach star told People she is already smitten with her bundle of joy.
“We are thrilled to share that we welcomed our son Liam James Tell into our family,” Conrad and Tell told the magazine. “Mom, Dad, and baby are doing well. We’re already in love!”
Lauren joked that the couple’s dogs, Chloe and Fitz, “aren’t so sure” about the family’s new addition.
According to Peopl e, Lauren Conrad gave birth to her son on Wednesday, July 5, sometime in the afternoon. The baby weighed in at six pounds, 14 ounces. As for the newborn’s name, Conrad and Tell kept things in the family. Liam comes from a shortened version of his dad’s first name, William, while the boy’s middle name, James, is Lauren’s father’s first name , according to E! News .
Lauren Conrad has kept fans in the loop throughout her pregnancy, so it’s no wonder she posted a special announcement within hours of giving birth to baby Liam.
Lauren, who married William Tell in September 2014, first revealed her pregnancy to fans on New Year’s Day. In true LC fashion, the star posted a Pinterest-perfect sonogram pic with New Year’s greetings and the prediction that “2017 is going to be the best year yet.”
Unlike most moms who play coy on gender preferences, Conrad later revealed to Fit Pregnancy and Baby magazine that she really wanted her first child to be a boy.
“I really wanted a boy,” Conrad admitted. “My husband kept saying, ‘We just want a healthy baby.’ And I’d say, ‘But a boy would be nice! I was a wild little tomboy, so I think I understand boys. My mom always told me that nobody loves you like a son does, especially when he’s young.”
Conrad and Tell will have plenty of help in the babysitting department. The Paper Crown designer told People that both of the couple’s families live within 20 minutes of her house and that baby Liam is the first grandchild on both sides.
In addition, there could be plenty of play dates in baby Liam’s future. Lauren Conrad’s The Hills/Laguna Beach co-stars Audrina Patridge and Kristin Cavallari are already moms, and fellow franchise alums Heidi Montag and Whitney Port are also pregnant.
Lauren Conrad took to her blog to write that she will be taking “a little step back from the site” over the next few weeks as she adjusts to her new role as a mom.
