Chauncey Billups is returning to the Detroit Pistons.
Billups, who won a championship with the Detroit Pistons in 2004, has reportedly signed a $5 million, 2-year deal to return to the team.
The Detroit Pistons have not made an official announcement yet but the Detroit Free Press reports that it’s a done deal.
Andre Drummond seemingly confirmed the news this morning when he wrote on Twitter that he’d happily give up his #1 jersey to get Chauncy Billups on the team.
Drummond wrote: “If we do take CB ill give my #1 up. # Mr .BigShot.”
Billups has played with the Los Angeles Clippers, the New York Knicks, and the Orlando Magic since his time in Detroit. The veteran guard suffered an Achilles injury during the 2011-12 season and only played 22 games for the Clippers last season.
Billups, who will soon be turning 37, is a five-time NBA All Star. He was also the Finals MVP when the Pistons won the championship in 2004.
The guard started his NBA career in 1997 with the Boston Celtics. He played for the Toronto Raptors, the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Denver Nuggets before landing in Detroit in 2002.
Billups shoots 38% from 3-point range and has averaged about 15 points per game throughout his career.
